❖ Excellent abrasion resistance

Titanium nitride (TiN) coating is also used in medical instruments and drill bits to prevent wear, and is highly reliable.

❖ It is expected to be effective against metal allergies

Titanium itself is biocompatible, and because it is in the form of a ceramic bonded with nitrogen, it is expected to be effective against allergies.

 ❖ Excellent cost performance

There have been services available for applying TiN coating to mouthpieces for some time, but they were all expensive and offered poor after-sales service.

After three years of research, we have improved adhesion by applying a stable base to the coating.

We have also succeeded in reducing defects during film formation to as close to zero as possible.

Our metal allergy advisors, who are members of the Metal Allergy Association, will handle each case individually and will provide detailed advice.

❖ You can customize your mouthpiece to your liking

Processing can be done on the mouthpiece you normally use.
We can also process them into new products, so please contact us (made to order).

If the scratches or dents are too large, it may not be possible to process the material. In such cases, we may recommend switching to ReST-M2, which is relatively stable and can be processed.

  • TiN coating does not completely prevent metal allergies. Allergic reactions may occur if the instrument comes into contact with an uncoated instrument. TiN coating is not effective in alleviating allergies.

TiN coating is intended for people with metal allergies, and people with other allergies may experience symptoms.

Although the coating is more abrasion-resistant than the paint normally used on musical instruments, polishing with abrasives or intentionally rubbing against hard metal may cause the coating to peel off, exposing the bare metal. In this case, the anti-allergenic properties will be lost.

Please use water and neutral detergent for cleaning. Avoid using organic solvents, alcohol, acidic or alkaline detergents.

Please avoid scrubbing the mouthpiece with a hard brush, as this may cause the coating to peel off. Please handle it carefully using a cotton swab or soft tissue paper.

We create samples of commercially available mouthpieces and have confirmed that they do not peel over a short period of time under normal use. However, please note that the above test results may not necessarily apply depending on the material and condition. (Samples are created using silver-plated trumpet, trombone, French horn, and tuba mouthpieces.) Refunds are not available if the coating does not adhere due to a problem or defect in the finish, or if a defect occurs due to an accident or malfunction during processing or peeling. Refunds are also not available if the item you have entrusted to us is damaged or rendered unusable. Regardless of the reason, a fee will be charged for peeling and reprocessing. During processing, a jig is attached to the backbore for stability. The paint will not adhere to areas in contact with the jig. Also, roughness may occur. Thank you for your understanding.

After processing, UPMAKE will inspect the product, and if there are no defects in the rim or the part of the cup that touches the lip, and it is deemed to be in good condition for use, it will be returned to you.

If any items are found to be defective during inspection, they will be reprocessed before being returned. In this case, it may take additional days for delivery.

Although UPMAKE tests the coating used, UPMAKE will not be held responsible if the client develops a metal allergy or other abnormalities during use. (Test method: 30 subjects who develop allergic symptoms when using commercially available brass mouthpieces with a silver-plated finish were asked to use a prototype with TiN coating for one month. During the test period, no one experienced redness, peeling, itching, etc.)

All shipping fees are the responsibility of the customer unless they are not covered by UPMAKE's services.

Processing will begin after payment has been confirmed. Please note that if payment cannot be confirmed after shipping, we will not be able to deliver the processed product.

There may be small scratches that occur during processing. Please be sure to send using a trackable and insured service (such as Takkyubin Compact). UPMAKE cannot compensate for any damage that occurs during transportation under any circumstances. Please let us know the tracking number after shipping.

If you make a request, we will assume that you have understood and agreed to all of the above points.
