This coating combines the stable properties of titanium with the excellent wear resistance of ceramics.
It has a beautiful metallic luster and an appearance similar to gold.

Features

❃ Excellent abrasion resistance

Titanium nitride (TiN) coating is non-toxic and harmless.

It is highly reliable and is used in medical instruments and drill bits to prevent wear.

❃ It is expected to be effective against metal allergies

Titanium itself is biocompatible, and because it is in the form of a ceramic bonded with nitrogen, it is expected to be effective against allergies.

❃ Excellent cost performance

There have been services available for applying TiN coating to mouthpieces for some time, but they were all expensive and offered poor after-sales service.

After three years of research, we have improved adhesion by applying a stable base under the coating.

We have also succeeded in reducing defects during film formation to as close to zero as possible.

Metal allergy advisors affiliated with the Metal Allergy Association will handle each case individually and will provide detailed advice.

❃ You can customize your mouthpiece to your liking

TiN coating can be applied to the mouthpiece you normally use.
We can also process them into new products, so please contact us (made to order).

If the scratches or dents are too large, it may not be possible to process the material. In such cases, we may recommend switching to ReST-M2, which is relatively stable and can be processed.

Resin processing for brass instrument mouthpieces

ReST-M2

The resin coating on the mouthpiece surface creates a physical barrier to prevent contact with metal. Masking allows you to specify the area to be processed. Players around the world are starting to use this technology.

Important Notice

  • TiN coating does not completely prevent metal allergies. Allergic reactions may occur if you come into contact with an uncoated instrument. It is also not effective in alleviating the allergy itself.

  • TiN coating is intended for people with metal allergies, and people with other allergies may experience symptoms.

  • Although the coating is more abrasion-resistant than the paint normally used on musical instruments , polishing with abrasives or intentionally rubbing against hard metal may cause the coating to peel off, exposing the bare metal. In this case, the anti-allergy properties will be lost .

  • Please use water and neutral detergent for cleaning. Avoid using organic solvents, alcohol, acidic or alkaline detergents.

  • Please avoid scrubbing the mouthpiece with a hard brush, as this may cause the coating to peel off. Please handle the mouthpiece carefully using a cotton swab or soft tissue paper.

  • We have created samples of mouthpieces that are commonly available , and have confirmed that they do not peel off in a short period of time under normal use, but please note that the above test results may not necessarily apply depending on the material and condition. (Samples are created for trumpet, trombone, French horn, and tuba mouthpieces.)

  • We cannot offer refunds if the paint does not adhere due to a defect, or if the paint is defective due to an accident or defect during processing or removal. We also cannot offer refunds if the item we have received is damaged or becomes unusable. Regardless of the reason, we will charge you the actual cost for removal and reprocessing.

  • During processing, a jig is attached to the backbore to fix the part in place. The paint will not adhere to the area that comes into contact with the jig. Also, there is a possibility that roughness may occur. Please be aware of this.

  • After processing, UPMAKE will inspect the product, and if there are no defects in the rim or the part of the cup that touches the lip, and it is deemed to be in good condition for use , it will be returned to you .

  • If any items are found to be defective during inspection, they will be reprocessed before being returned. In this case, it may take additional days for delivery.

  • Although UPMAKE tests the coating used, UPMAKE will not be held responsible if the client develops a metal allergy or other abnormalities during use. (Test method: 30 subjects who develop allergic symptoms when using commercially available brass mouthpieces with a silver-plated finish were asked to use a prototype with TiN coating for one month. During the test period, no one experienced redness, peeling, itching, etc. )

  • All shipping fees are the responsibility of the customer unless they are not covered by UPMAKE's services.

  • Processing will begin after payment has been confirmed. Please note that if payment cannot be confirmed after shipping, we will not be able to deliver the processed product.

  • There may be small scratches that occur during processing.

  • Please be sure to send your package using a trackable and insured service (such as Takkyubin Compact). UPMAKE cannot provide compensation for any damage that occurs during transportation. Please let us know the tracking number after shipping.

  • If you make a request, we will assume that you have understood and agreed to all of the above points .
